Working in collaboration with City Gateway Women’s Project in Tower Hamlets, artist Rebecca Davies developed a participatory project with women and their children to celebrate local knowledge, creativity and skills.
Focusing on learning as exchange, the project featured a series of creative workshops taking place throughout October 2015 – March 2016 at City Gateway sites in Poplar and Stepney involving activity ranging from engraving and book-binding to embroidery and beauty therapy.
Three family drop-in workshops and a Family Day at the Whitechapel Gallery marked the end of the project.
Supported by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Garfield Weston Foundation.
