Angela Hartnett consults on all areas of the food working closely with the Whitechapel Gallery chefs. She is renowned for her big flavours and love of seasonality as influenced by her Italian heritage.

Menu 

There is a daily changing menu with the emphasis on homely cooking using the very best British ingredients. With small dishes priced between £5-8 and larger plates, ideal for sharing and priced between £10-15, the Whitechapel Gallery Dining Room offers great flexibility to guests of the restaurant; whether they want a quick bite or a leisurely lunch.

Starters include dishes such as ham hock and parsley terrine with homemade piccalilli and whipped goats curd with roasted garlic; mains feature cote de boeuf with caramelised chicory and sea trout, with tomato and olive crust; and puddings range from lemon tart with raspberry coulis, eton mess and dark chocolate mousse. There is a concise but considered wine list with many options available by the glass.

The Whitechapel Gallery Dining Room menu changes and evolves on a regular basis introducing diners to different textures and flavours of seasonal vegetables, fresh fish and meat.

Whitechapel Gallery Café/Bar

The Café/Bar on the mezzanine level offers a range of sandwiches, light bites and salads as well as a dish of the day. The Café is an ideal place to indulge in delicious homemade cakes and biscuits whilst reading newspapers, art publications and information on the exhibitions.

Free Coffee Tasting
Thursday 26 January, 6.30pm
An opportunity to taste some of the world’s best coffees. Tea and coffee master Giles Hilton gives a brief background history of coffee drinking and its process, from plantation to cup, followed by a tasting of four of Union Coffee’s single estate coffees.

Library Dining Room

Book our private Library Dining Room at no extra charge for tables of between 8–14 guests for lunch or dinner. This intimate space features a social sculpture by Christian Boltanski and is also ideal for small canapé receptions for up to 20 guests.
