2011/12: Simon and Tom Bloor
Hermitage primary school,
Tower Hamlets
London and Birmingham based artists Simon & Tom Bloor are working with the pupils and teaching staff of Hermitage Primary School, Tower Hamlets for a period of one academic year. Taking inspiration from the mid 20th Century creative activity books of educationalists and play directors such as John Lidstone and Kurt Rowland, the Bloors will work with children and other school users to experiment with production and develop new ideas for playful, useful art.

Supporting artist Ella Phillips is documenting the residency through photography, film and painting; creating a playful documentary with an aesthetic reminiscent of 1970s-80s educational videos and children's television.
She is running an after school art club alongside the residency, and keeps the school community updated through regular articles in their weekly newsletter and noticeboard. Find out more about Ella’s work here: www.ellaphillips.co.uk .
