This session provides practical advice and information on writing and submitting compelling grant applications.  What you will learn:

  • How to research and identify grant-giving organisations
  • How to construct a robust project and create a case for support
  • How to write a compelling application
  • How to construct a budget, timelines, outcomes and outputs
  • Reporting, monitoring and evaluation

About: Ushi Bagga

Ushi Bagga is a Senior Grants Manager at Paul Hamlyn Foundation. Before joining PHF in 2008 as a Grants Officer, Ushi had more than 17 years’ experience working in the art sector, including 10 years’ in the subsidised theatre sector in roles at the Traverse Theatre, National Theatre and Royal Court. Before joining PHF, she worked as General Manager for Paines Plough Theatre Company, supporting the development of new writing and producing work that toured the UK and internationally. Ushi has an M.A. in Philosophy from St. Andrews University.

About: Sue Evans

Sue Evans is Development Manager at Whitechapel Gallery and has 10 years experience working in Arts fundraising. She has experience of making successful grant applications to a wide range of major Trusts and Foundations and statutory bodies, for capital projects, endowments, and revenue fundraising strands including exhibitions and education programmes. Sue previously worked in management and marketing at Kings College London. She has a CIM Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing and an MA Cultural and Creative Industries.
