4 January - 31 January
by French photographer Aurélien Ciller
Shapes, shadows, reflections… Aurélien Ciller‘s exhibition presents a series of graphic images that the artist encountered during his many travels and wanders across Europe.
Each photograph echoes a unique experience connected to a specific location he has explored and his spectral images are an attempt to approach spaces beyond the conventional frame of human vision.
Printing on aluminium plays an important role in his works. The mystical density of the photograph is reinforced by the reflective, contrasting effects of the metal.
Aurélien Ciller started photography in the early 2000’s. Along with studying Pharmaceutical sciences, he developed his technique further with the creation of the +RIEL press agency in 2007 with a friend. This gave him the opportunity to sharpen his eye and to analyze how interactions between individuals develop in our society.
Since 2011, Ciller is favoring slower shooting techniques by using film cameras.
In the meantime he created an art collective called Wer Ulysses in 2014 whose goal is to gather young photographers from Europe around the thematic of wandering. The first group show took place in Marseille, followed by tour of exhibition in Europe with a last stop in Porto in November 2015.
