Every month, Whitechapel Gallery maps out a Walking Tour with a selection of the latest First Thursdays exhibitions in east London. The accompanying map is available for free at the Whitechapel Gallery information desk or available to download below.
July’s Walking Tour begins at Whitechapel Gallery. Discover emerging art from a diverse city, The London Open 2018 features 22 artists working across painting, sculpture, performance and video. Free entry to all our summer exhibitions including newly opened Katja Novitskova: Invasion Curves, Killed Negatives: Unseen Images from 1930s America, ISelf Collection: Bumped Bodies and Alone Together: Youth Forum with Seth Pimlott.
Next stop is a short walk to Yamamoto Keiko Rochaix (6 min) for a solo exhibition by Yoi Kawakubo, known for his large scale wall installations. Second stop, visit Studio 1.1 (15 mins) for the opening of David Lock’s society portraiture show. For your last stop, head to Hundred Years Gallery (15 min) to see the culmination of a year’s residency series, organised by Hundred Years Gallery and Great Art, that aims to capture the spirit of open collaboration and community arts.
