2 Day Children's Art Course: Turning Words into Art

Artist Marianne Holm Hansen leads a practical and fun course about art and language for 9-12 year-olds based in the Gallery and Creative Studio. The course explores themes in the work of Mel Bochner such as colour, language and measurement through verbal games and exercises, and studio workshops that use a variety of resources (from basic drawing materials to a thesaurus and pebbles), to respond to the work on view in the exhibition.

Important information before booking:

  • All children are to attend the course independently

  • Workshop leaders and Whitechapel Gallery staff have been police checked

  •  Children should bring a packed lunch and wear suitable clothing for drawing and craft activities

  • Parents and guardians should drop off children at the Information Desk at 10.45am for an 11am start on each day and arrive to pick-up at a 3pm.

  • On the final day all parents and guardians are asked to collect children at 3pm as there will be a mini-exhibition of the children's work to view.
