Parallel Anthology

An evening of music inspired by musicologist, record collector and artist Harry Smith and his iconic Anthology of American Folk Music. Artists Eileen Simpson and Ben White have collected parallel public domain versions of anthology recordings not closed down by copyright; from non-attributed folk versions, to commercial recordings whose proprietary interests have expired. For this event musicians and producers have been invited to perform contemporary covers and remixes of the archive material for a night of plugged and unplugged performances.

Open Music Archive, initiated by Eileen Simpson & Ben White, is an ongoing self-organised artist’s project to source, digitise, and distribute out-of-copyright music recordings.

Concessions and members are kindly asked to show proof or ID when collecting tickets on the night.

Tickets can still be purchased on the doors to tonight's Late Night Music event. Please enter via Angel Alley off Whitechapel High Street next to the Whitechapel Gallery, doors open at 8pm.
