The Arts and Crafts motif of the 'Tree of Life' has been inscribed in the Gallery's architecture and mission since opening in 1901. Archivist Gary Haines and Assistant Curator Emily Butler go behind the scenes of Rachel Whiteread’s new work of art for the Gallery building, inspired by this powerful symbol of social renewal.

In association with Open House London.
