Sir Howard Hodgkin made Sunset in collaboration with printmaker Jack Sheriff.
Artist Information Sir Howard Hodgkin is one of Britain’s foremost painters, known for his expressive, gestural style and self-described premise of painting representational pictures of emotional situations. In the 1960s he also began to make prints and has continued to experiment with printmaking throughout his career, often incorporating a delicate hand-colouring technique. Hodgkin was awarded the Turner Prize in 1985 and awarded knighthood in 1992. He has represented Britain at the Venice Biennale and major museum surveys of his work have included the Whitechapel Gallery, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Tate, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia and the Barbican.
