This publication accompanies three exhibitions organised by Rachel Harrison over a one-year period between June 2009 and April 2010: 'Consider the Lobster', at the Centre for Curatorial Studies at Bard College; 'HAYCATION', at Portikus, Frankfurt; and 'Conquest of the Useless', at Whitechapel Gallery, London. Given the wry title Museum with Walls, the following pages provide a photographic sequencing of the route taken by visitors through the first iteration of the project, at Bard, a complex and precisely constructed exhibition by the artist acting as a survey and a remaking of her large scale installations, each of which formed the basis of previous exhibitons and previous projects.
This publication features an introduction by Tom Eccles, with essays by Iwona Blazwick, Jack Bankowsky and David Joselit.
ISBN: 978-1-936192-03-8, hardback, 263 pages, 172 colour photographs, co-published by the Whitechapel Gallery, CCS Bard and Portikus, 2010.
