Artist Information

Peter Peri was born in 1971 and studied at Chelsea School of Art, he has held a long-standing interest in Russian Constructivist Art which he references in carefully and obsessively worked drawings. In his paintings he explores a darker edge of Modernism, often using spray can paint on blackened canvases and creating new unsettling geometries.

Peri has recently made a new series of silver paintings which are ‘negatives’ of the black paintings and in which the roles of black and silver are reversed and silver becomes the ground. Playing with technology within the context of This is Tomorrow, this edition is a computer generated double negative of a recent silver painting in which the silver turns back to black.

Peri’s work is held in the collections of Tate and the Arts Council.
