Artist Information

Welsh born Merlin James is a highly-regarded writer, critic and also artist.  His diverse practice, a blend of innovation and tradition, includes landscape, abstraction and figuration, and he draws influence from sources as varied as Fauvism, the Camden Town Group and documentary photography.

James studied at the Central School of Design, Cardiff College and the Royal College of Art.  He has represented Wales at the Venice Biennale and exhibits internationally.
