Artist’s information

Life-sized images of tourists enraptured by art, intimate family portraits, epic panoramas of colossal technology projects and quiet pictures of empty streets, are all subjects matters included in the photographic work of German artist Thomas Struth, one of the most important photographers of the late 20th century.

The limited edition print String Handling, SolarWorld, Frieberg, 2011 was produced by Struth exclusively for the Whitechapel Gallery and gives an interior view of one of the production plants at SolarWorld  power station in Frieberg Germany.

In recent years Struth has had several major solo shows, including Thomas Struth at Museum of Cycladic Art, Athens; Familienleben, Die Photographische Sammlung / SK Stiftung Kultur, Cologne; Thomas Struth, Madre, Museo d'Arte Contemporanea Donna Regina, Naples, and Making Time, Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid.
