Study Studio The first in a series of bi-monthly reading events about art writing as a meeting place for deduction, disagreement and debate. Cabinet magazine presents ‘Reading in the Dark’: a selection of talks and performances that takes place entirely in the dark. Brian Dillon, UK Editor of Cabinet, discusses the history of the void in literature, art and art writing. Writer and critic Sally O’Reilly performs an invisible theatre piece of her own devising. Artist Jeremy Millar talks about the history and significance of the black mirror. There will be dark thoughts, obscure utterances and some black looks. Co-hosted by Brian Dillon, UK Editor of invited publication Cabinet, with Maria Fusco, Writer-in-Residence. Writer in Residence 2009 - 2010 Maria Fusco, Editor of experimental art writing journal The Happy Hypocrite and Director of Art Writing at Goldsmiths College, University of London, is Writer-in-Residence for one year. During her residency, Fusco will curate a diverse programme of events, workshops and courses around writing about art, writing as art and writing as a lens through which to view art.
