Alpha-ville 2010: International Festival of Digital Arts and Culture is London ’s new pioneering festival exploring digital art forms. During the course of one evening the festival will inhabit and transform 5 spaces within the Whitechapel Gallery, celebrating the latest in live electronic music, moving image, interactive media installations and 3D audio-visual performances.

Throughout the festival the idea of 'Visionary Cities' is explored, creating environments that invite the public to experience a concept of cities and societies of tomorrow. Making use of innovations in new media each performance will explore social, emotional and environmental issues.

Highlights of the programme include:

Films:
Bartlett Showcase (18.30-19.30) introduced by Nic Clear, course director of Bartlett School of Architecture, presents a selection of films by Bartlett 2010 final year students. Focussing on 'Year of the Depend Adult Undergarment'. Following the screening will be the winners of the Visionary Cities film competition in partnership with Vimeo and an Alpha-ville screening programme will be running until the end of the night - a curated compilation from across digital animation, experimental video, motion graphics and 3D mapping.

Music:
Celebrating electronic music pioneers and up and coming talents, two rooms will transform into live performance spaces. Witness a rare live appearance by IDM pioneer Bola, a special live set by Scanner and contemporary electronic music artists including Subeena, the Boats, Uniform and much more.

Installation:
An interactive and performance space will invite participants to explore the modes and effects of participatory new media designs. Unique performances will be staged making use of sound and 3D audio-visual mapping.
