Alpha-ville offers a one-day practical workshop for young girls aged 14- 19. The workshop is structured around individual and group work and will be led by experienced sound designer and music composer Marco Lavarone (aka Misound) who will use examples drawn from his own practice to highlight the main features of various software including Pro tools and Ableton.
This workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to investigate the technology and processes used in the production and reproduction of sound in the context of the moving image, dance and mixed media installations. It will be delivered in partnership with Ableton and with local youth clubs.
The workshop was created in respond to a need for provision of more activities that develop creative and technical skills and raise awareness of the working possibilities in the electronic music industry. It aims to engage them in music technology, sound design and music production, to foster creativity and improve skills. It will also create educational and vocational routes which will equip young woman with the knowledge and skills needed for further learning and employment.
Suitable for beginners and students wanting to get into music, sound design, sound engineering and moving image courses. Participants will be taken through the basic creation of music using various softwares and incorporating the Keyboard and MIDI control. They will also learn how to mix and synchronize music and images using various computer programmes.
