This event has been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. Matthew Caley’s debut Thirst (Slow Dancer, 1999) was short listed for The Forward Prize for Best First Collection. He’s been commended, 3rd and 2nd in recent National Poetry Competitions and Writer-In-Residence at The Poetry Society café. His second collection titled The Scene Of My Former Triumph (Wrecking Ball, 2005) and Apparently (Bloodaxe 2010) his third collection of poetry were featured on BBC Radio 3’s The Verb.
John Stammers, Associate of Kings' College, reads philosophy at King's College London and is a creative writing tutor and freelance writer. His first collection, Panoramic Lounge-Bar, was awarded the Forward Prize for Best First Collection 2001 and shortlisted for the Whitbread Poetry Award 2001. His second collection, Stolen Love Behaviour, was a Poetry Book Society Choice. He was Judith E. Wilson Fellow at the University of Cambridge and has published a third collection of work entitled Interior Night (Picador 2010).
Zena Edwards has performed at Festivals worldwide and has shared the stage and anthologies with some of her most admired predecessors including Linton Kwesi Johnson, Sonia Sanchez, Lemn Sissay, Jean Binta Breeze and Roger McGough. Her work is deep and sensuous, rhythmic and startling transforming poetry into music. Using sampling technology to layer her mellifluous singing voice and the raw magic of the Kalimba and Kora, Zena creates her own sound tracks for her words and stories. She has produced work for several BBC radio broadcasts, and short films for Sky Digital and was recently Resident Poet at the Poetry Cafe in Covent Garden .
David Crystal was born in Prudhoe, Northumberland in 1963 and now lives and works in London . He has worked as literary editor of DOG magazine and his work featured in the Body & Soul exhibition at the ICA . He has had two previous collections from Two Rivers Press. His latest collection is ‘Wrong Horse Home’ (Tall Lighthouse, 2010)
