Getting around the Gallery

While exhibitions are being installed and during the one paying show a year, circulation routes around the gallery will be altered. The whole Gallery remains open at all times but please contact the Information Desk for specific information.

Download a floorplan of the galleries.

Levels and lifts

Our entrance is at street level and all the galleries are wheelchair accessible, one of the front doors is automated.  There is a lift servicing all levels.

We are currently experiencing technical problems with Lift 2 which is used to reach the CafĂ©/Bar and Gallery 3. If you require level access, please contact a member of staff and we will make alternative service arrangements should the lift be out of order at the time of your visit.

Seating

If you require seating during your visit there are folding chairs available behind the Cloakroom and next to the Upper Gallery. Please ask at the Information Desk for assistance.

Borrowing wheelchairs and walkers

Wheelchairs and walkers are available on request.

Dogs

Guide dogs, hearing and registered assistance dogs are welcome. Staff can provide a bowl of water. If you want to bring your guide or hearing dog to an event in our lecture theatre, please call in advance to reserve a seat next to the aisle.

Toilets and baby care facilities

Accessible toilets and baby changing facilities are available.

For visually impaired visitors

Large print information about exhibitions, events and facilities can be collected from the Information Desk.

For hearing impaired visitors

Our auditorium, Study Studio and Creative Studios are equipped with induction loops.

First Thursday talks will be BSL interpreted and speakers giving talks in the galleries wear portable induction loops.  There are 4 portable receivers, which can be borrowed from the Information Desk. Text transcriptions are available where necessary for sound installations. Please ask at the Information Desk for more information.

Parking

There is free parking for Blue Badge holders at the top of Osborn Street in the pay and display booths for an unlimited period.

There is also one space directly outside the gallery in the loading bay which is available on a first come-first serve basis (max stay 3hrs).
