Getting here by public transport
We are less than 1 minute walk from Aldgate East and approximately 15 minutes walk from Liverpool Street and Tower Gateway stations.
Bus routes 25, 205, 254, 67, 15, 115, 135 and 42 stop nearby the Gallery. Please contact Transport for London to plan your journey before you travel www.tfl.gov.uk.
Getting here by car
Visitors are encouraged to use public transport where possible. There are a number of external parking facilities nearby for visitors wishing to travel by car, please contact the facilities directly for more information.

- Blue Badge holders can park in the space in front of the gallery (max 3 hours stay), on a first-come, first-served basis. Alternatively there is accessible parking on Osborne Street.

Cloakroom facilities
Visitors are welcome to use the cloakroom facility free of charge for the storage or jackets, bags, buggies and folded bicycles. Due to the fragile nature of the artworks we kindly ask that large items of luggage be left at the cloakroom before entering the galleries. The cloakroom is guarded at all times, but please note that items are left at the owner's risk.
Facilities for families
Children's activity packs containing stickers and crayons are available from the information desk. Suggested £1 donation per pack (not suitable for children under 4 due to small parts).
Events for children and families take place in the Gallery on various dates throughout the year; please click here to view our latest programme.
Baby changing facilities are located on the ground and basement levels of the gallery.
Use of photography and drawing inside the gallery
Photography is not permitted inside any gallery or exhibition space however, photographs can be taken in the Foyer, Café/Bar, Bookshop and Dining Room. Visitors are welcome to draw inside the galleries with dry materials: fine-tipped pens, crayons, pencils. Materials not permitted are paint, oil paint and other wet materials, permanent markers, charcoal and pastels.
Researching the Gallery archives
All past catalogues are available and can be consulted in the Foyle Reading Room adjacent to Gallery 4, no appointment necessary.The Foyle Reading Room is open Tuesdays to Fridays, 11am to 5pm.
Reading of the archive material is arranged by appointment with the Archivist. To book a visit or if you have an enquiry, please email the Archive Enquiry Form to Gary Haines or call +44 (0)20 7522 7888.
Food and drink inside the Gallery
Due to the fragile nature of the artworks consumption of food and drink is not permitted inside the Gallery (except for bottled drinks). Food and drink are available to purchase in the Cafe/Bar and the Whitechapel Gallery Dining Room. Free drinking water is available from the Café/Bar.
The Café/Bar on the mezzanine level offers a range of sandwiches, light bites and salads as well as a dish of the day.
The Whitechapel Gallery Dining Room on level 0 offers a daily changing menu for both lunch and dinner with the emphasis on homely cooking using the very best British ingredients.
