Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become the new Director of Development of the Whitechapel Gallery. Joining at a transformational moment in the Gallery’s 120-year history, the individual will work closely with its new Director Gilane Tawadros, its committed Trustees and staff, to shape and support a new vision for the Whitechapel Gallery, creating a distinctive, radically different voice for the Gallery as a leading cultural institution in the twenty-first century.

We are seeking an ambitious and dynamic individual with a proven track record of fundraising success in the cultural sector who can create a new vision for the Development department and explore imaginative opportunities to generate more philanthropic income from individuals, trusts and foundations and corporate sponsors and public funding sources. As both the leader of the Development Team and a core part of the Senior Management Team, the successful candidate will be both an effective leader and collaborator, combining strategic vision with practical delivery. And of course, the individual should be a passionate advocate of Whitechapel Gallery and demonstrate the ability to inspire others to support its mission.
