Whitechapel Gallery is looking for Duty Manager to play an essential part in the day to day running of the Gallery, as well as supporting our wonderful artistic program
The Whitechapel Gallery contains nine beautiful exhibition spaces, an auditorium, as well as artist commissions, collection displays, historic archives, education resources, inspiring art courses, dining room and bookshop, and the newly expanded Gallery is open all year round, so there is always something free to see.
The Duty Manager is responsible for the day to day presentation of the Gallery; including all public-facing areas as well as back of house areas. This means implementing procedures relating to deliveries, visitor access, signage and security, as well as being the first point of contact for the Gallery Assistant and Visitor Services Teams, and providing requirements for internal and external Gallery activities.
The Duty Manager is also often responsible for overseeing and facilitating the Gallery’s busy events schedule, which ranges from talks, performances, private hires and awards ceremonies. Duty Managers are therefore often expected to work evening and weekend shifts accordingly.
If you have worked in a public building, have excellent technical skills and can communicate with people from many different backgrounds you could join our team of Duty Managers.
