Every month, Whitechapel Gallery maps out a Walking Tour with a selection of the latest First Thursdays exhibitions in east London. The accompanying map is available for free at the Whitechapel Gallery information desk or available to download below.
August’s Walking Tour begins at Whitechapel Gallery. Discover emerging art from a diverse city, The London Open 2018 features 22 artists working across painting, sculpture, performance and video. Free entry to all our summer exhibitions including Katja Novitskova: Invasion Curves, Killed Negatives: Unseen Images from 1930s America, ISelf Collection: Bumped Bodies and Alone Together: Youth Forum with Seth Pimlott.
Next stop is a short walk to the Espacio Gallery (14 min), to see Urban Angles, a collaborative show exploring the ever-changing spirit of the city. Second stop (12 min) is to L’étrangère, showing I dance for you my edifice, a solo exhibition by London-based artist Evy Jokhova including multimedia installation; interactive sound sculptures, photographs, paintings and performance. Finally, head to BEERS London (10 min) for their Summer Salon, which brings together a collection of works by gallery-represented artists.
