More in Walking Tour: September 2018

Every month, Whitechapel Gallery maps out a Walking Tour with a selection of the latest First Thursdays exhibitions in east London. The accompanying map is available for free at the Whitechapel Gallery information desk or available to download below.

September’s Walking Tour begins at Whitechapel Gallery. Discover a vibrant mix of art books and magazines at the launch of the London Art Book Fair. Free entry to all exhibitions including Staging Jackson Pollock, Surreal Science: Loudon Collection with Salvatore Arancio, Mikhail Karikis: No Ordinary Protest and Artists’ Film International: Munem Wasif, Mikołaj Sobczak, Jibade-Khalil Huffman.

Next stop is a short walk to Gallery S O (6 min), to see Shelved, a collaborative show with artists exploring the role objects play in our lives. Second stop is Brady Arts Centre (9 min) for The Silk Road, a solo exhibition of shape and colour by artist Steve Homes. Finally, head to Stepney City Farm (23 min). Georgie Mason opens her Stepney City Farm studio showcasing semi-abstract landscape paintings from her India collection. Also on show is a selection of ceramic sculptures by Patrick Lears and natural fabric dyeing demonstrations from the Modern Eccentrics.
