Artists Nicole Bachmann and Ruth Beale present Performance as Publishing: At Home a new performance series in the spirit of a zine. Low tech, DIY and self-organised, it is conceived as a vessel for exchange and encounters usually conducted as an informal evening in a domestic setting, with a performance, dinner, drinks and conversation.
Performance as Publishing reimagines At Home for Whitechapel Gallery as a casual afternoon with a reading by Diana Policarpo, followed by tea, cake and conversation for all.

Diana Policarpo is a London based visual artist and composer whose work consists of both visual and musical media, including drawing, score, sculpture, acoustic composition, performance and multi-channel sound installation. She graduated from Goldsmiths College with a MFA in Fine Art in 2013. Her work investigates power relations, popular culture and gender politics, juxtaposing the rhythmic structuring of sound as a tactile material within the social construction of esoteric ideology. She creates performances and installations to examine experiences of vulnerability and empowerment associated with acts of exposing oneself to the capitalist world. Ruth Beale works collaboratively and collectively to consider the evocative relationships between culture, governance, social discourse and representation. Using an approach she calls ‘socialised questioning’ her work includes performance, writing, collecting, drawing and socially-engaged processes. As well as Performance as Publishing, she is co-founder of The Alternative School of Economics, which uses the practice of self education to reclaim and explore economics as a social subject. ASE is currently in residence at Gasworks, London. Ruth has performed and exhibited at ICA, London, Turner Contemporary, Basel Kunsthalle, MoMA Ps1, South London Gallery and Modern Art Oxford. She gained a MFA in Fine Art Practice from Goldsmiths in 2010. She is currently the Fungus Press resident at Turf Projects, Croydon, and is working on a major commission with Mansions of the Future in Lincoln.
