Yu Gou explores Jiéjiè (Enchantment) (2019), a Buddhist term describing the protective ‘zone’ created through a collective consciousness. Guo analyses this concept within heavily mediated urban environments.

Yu Guo (b.1983, China) currently lives and works in Chongqing province and studied at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. In his digital videos Yu Guo explores how cities evolve and communities adapt to rapid urban expansion and displacement. He has shown widely in China and in group shows at Kadist Foundation, San Francisco and Centre Pompidou, Paris.

The Artists Film International 2020 programme responds to the theme of language. Local sounds, rituals and political realities feature, from the rhythms and images of a Bahamian Junkanoo to the contested ancestral lands on the desert border between Mexico and the USA.
