Art Futures is a major new Whitechapel Gallery series which looks at the role of public art institutions at a time of multiple crises, bringing together audiences with artists, writers, academics and policy-makers to collectively imagine alternative visions.
Over a series of public discussions across 2025-26, Art Futures explores key issues shaping public art institutions, including: the democratic role of culture; how the value of culture is assessed; the development of public space, civic space and gentrification; and the relationship between politics, culture and dissent.
