Duchamp & Sons worked with artist and musician Rosie Ridgway to explore collaborative music making inspired by the Once Heard Before (27 Aug 2019 – 5 Jan 2020) exhibition. Through a series of workshops they created experimental lyrics, loops and beats using a combination of song samples, audio recordings from the local neighbourhood, sounds from musical instruments and digital software.
In November the group presented a sonic installation and a live music production workshop in Gallery’s Creative Studio as part of a Youth Takeover during A Night At Whitechapel. Guests were invited to listen new compositions and create their own lyrics and tunes resulting in spontaneous performances.
To mark the end of project, the group recorded an experimental EP of spoken word, beats and songs at the Gallery.
