Join a special late night opening on 3 August 2017 for Whitechapel Gallery First Thursdays.


ISelf Collection: Self-portrait as the Billy Goat, explore identity and self-portraiture in a free curator-led tour.  Emma Hart: Mamma Mia! [free entry] the new large-scale installation by London-based artist for the sixth edition of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women. Benedict Drew: The Trickle-Down Syndrome [free entry], large-scale multimedia installations spread across five rooms. A Handful of Dust [free entry], featuring works by over 30 artists and photographers including Marcel Duchamp, Walker Evans and Man Ray. Emanuel Almborg: Learning Matter [free entry] presents a new work looking at the role technology plays in our everyday lives and the archive display Q&A: Artists in Conversation [free entry].


Meet artist Louise Oates who will be signing copies of her book Notes on Hydraulic Fracturing.

This book brings together selected works from the project Notes on Hydraulic Fracturing which examines the unconventional extraction process as it gains purchase in the UK landscape. Images from the project can be seen as part of the exhibition A Handful of Dust.
