From designing displays in a variety of spaces, best practice in handling artworks, to important conservation issues for different mediums, we explore the many facets of installation to equip you with tools to confidently plan and execute dazzling displays. You will learn:

  • How to best plan and design an impactful display
  • How to effectively present work of different mediums
  • How to ensure successful and safe receipt, handling and safeguarding of artwork

 

Lunch and refreshments will be included in the course fee

About: Christopher Aldgate

Christopher Aldgate is Head of Exhibition Design and Production at Whitechapel Gallery. Working closely with exhibiting artists and curators, Chris’ role is to plan, design, implement and manage the delivery of the Gallery’s exhibitions programme across the Gallery’s nine spaces. He is also responsible for the safe handling and stewardship of all loaned artworks and has vast experience of installing work of all media to world class standards.

About: Patrick Lears

Patrick Lears is the Gallery Manager at the Whitechapel Gallery. Since 2009 he has delivered the Whitechapel’s ambitious programme across a spectrum of spaces and along side a wide variety of artists. Patrick works closely within the Gallery’s Education and Archive departments and has an interest in the conservation of contemporary art works and commissions.
