Whether you’re from a small, self-led arts organisation or working within a major museum – knowledge of the ever-evolving field of communications is fundamental to audience engagement and to the critical reach of an organisation and its programmes. Whitechapel Gallery’s Head of Communications Jenny Lea looks at brand, vision, values and developing effective integrated communications strategies across all platforms.

Throughout the day, she will look at:

  • Cost-effective Marketing Solutions
  • Authentic messaging
  • Managing a cultural brand
  • Be more visible and more focused
  • Build on reputation, reach new audiences and generate revenue

The Art Fund supports this ‘How to: Inside the Gallery’ series by offering a number of fully funded places per course for curators and museum and gallery professionals. The deadline is 18 December 2015, to apply, head to the Art Fund Website.

Jenny Lea

Jenny Lea recently joined Whitechapel Gallery as Head of Communications. She holds a BA from Birmingham University in English Literature and History of Art, and has over 15 years experience in arts communications in London and internationally.

Her experience spans both not-for-profit and commercial sectors, including for example at The National Gallery, Tate and Phaidon Press publishers. At the Whitechapel Gallery, she oversees a dynamic and forward-thinking team, who manage all digital activity, media relations, advertising and design.
