St. Augustine’s Tower is Hackney’s Oldest Building. The Tower is all that remains of the old church of St. Augustine, built at the end of the 13th century. Hackney Historic Buildings Trust; a charitable organisation set up to restore, refurbish and find new uses for derelict buildings in Hackney, has completed a major restoration project at St. Augustine’s Tower and now promotes this medieval Grade I listed building, as a space for local history, arts and culture.
