The Archive keeps most of the catalogues published by the Whitechapel Gallery. Some of the earlier ones are still missing, though. Nevertheless, our collection of the Whitechapel catalogues is useful not only for individual research of particular exhibitions but also for observing how the visual style of the epoch and Whitechapel branding were changing. Different designers, such as Richard Hollis, have contributed to this process.

The earliest exhibitions, before the present building had been built in 1901, were kept in the St Jude's school in the nearby.
