Project

Five artists from Gallery’s summer exhibition The London Open 2015 were invited to lead one day workshops exploring their practice.

Artist and fishmonger Sam Curtis took the group on a visit to Whitechapel Market and challenged the young people to create their own creative displays using fruit and vegetables.

Caroline Walker worked with the group to stage scenes before realising these in paint.

Phil Root from The Grantchester Pottery collaborated with the group to construct their own interior based on The Granchester Pottery’s installation in the gallery.

Emma Hart challenged the group to translate their thoughts and feelings of her work ‘Common Condition’ and their visit to the Gherkin into clay sculptures.

Photographer Dominic Hawgood asked the group to recreate a memory from the Boot Camp and photograph it. He taught the group techniques to alter images naturally rather than using computer software, employing mirrors, glass, and other materials to manipulate light.
