Joan Jonas to be honoured as Whitechapel Gallery Art Icon

American artist Joan Jonas (b. 1936) is announced today as the third artist to be awarded the Whitechapel Gallery Art Icon. The Whitechapel Gallery Art Icon honours the lifetime achievements of one of our greatest artists. The award will be presented to Joan Jonas at a special gala dinner hosted by former Whitechapel Gallery Director Iwona Blazwick OBE on 25 February 2016

Five female artists unveiled as shortlist for Max Mara Art Prize for Women in collaboration with Whitechapel Gallery

The Whitechapel Gallery, Collezione Maramotti and Max Mara revealed the names of the five artists shortlisted for the sixth Max Mara Art Prize for Women at a special event at the historical headquarters of Max Mara in Reggio Emilia, Italy on 4 October 2015. The shortlisted artists are Ruth Ewan, Ana Genovés, Emma Hart, Tania Kovats and Phoebe Unwin.
