What might the Moon tell us about life on Earth?
Babel’s Blessing, in collaboration with Whitechapel Gallery, invites students, neighbours and local residents to celebrate the end of term with an evening of film, conversation and creative writing.
At the heart of the evening is Vasto Mundo, a film by Ana Rivadulla Crespo and Adelaida Monguillot (Ande Films), based on the comic book and stories of Argentinian illustrator Flora Márquez. Blending animation, filmed scenes and a chorus of more than 100 voices, the film looks at our world through the eyes of the Moon.
The screening will be followed by a conversation and audience Q&A with the directors, introduced by Silvia Demetilla, co-founder of La Tundra and founder and director of the London Spanish Book & Zine Fair (LSBZF). Celebrating this year’s LSBZF theme, Silvia will then bring the conversation onto the page with a creative writing workshop inspired by the film’s themes. Drawing on everyday experiences, memories and our relationship with any little being of the world around us.
Snacks and drinks will be shared, with time to meet, catch up and celebrate the community we build through languages.
An evening to enjoy a film together, exchange ideas and see where a little writing takes us.
Free, pre-booking required.
Their classes explore politics, culture, art and history through language as people speak it, including everyday expressions and different accents. They also offer members of diaspora communities’ opportunities to learn languages connected to their family heritage. They run English and other language classes at the same time, in the same building. Students meet during shared breaks, have tea and practise languages together.
This year, our English students worked with Yarrow Films to make films that were screened at UCL in September and October 2026 as part of the exhibition Together at House of Annetta.
