The Whitechapel Gallery, Collezione Maramotti and Max Mara are delighted to announce the five shortlisted artists for the ninth edition of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women:
Rebecca Bellantoni, Bhajan Hunjan, Onyeka Igwe, Zinzi Minott and Dominique White. This weekend the artists travelled to Collezione Maramotti in Reggio Emilia, Italy, for the announcement as well as to celebrate the opening of the major artwork The Age/L’Età, by the eighth winner of the prize, Emma Talbot. The Age/L’Età tours from the Whitechapel Gallery where it was unveiled this summer.
Out of the Margins: Performance in London’s Institutions 1990s-2010s explores London’s art scene during this pivotal period in which live performance moved from an underground artform to one acknowledged by the establishment.
Donna Huanca (b. 1980, USA), known for her immersive painterly and multi-sensory installations, concludes Whitechapel Gallery’s series of artist-curated displays drawn from the collection of the Christen Sveaas Art Foundation with an invitation to enter PORTAL DE PLATA.
In autumn of this year, Korean-Canadian artist Zadie Xa (b.1983) presents her largest solo exhibition in London to date, commissioned by the Whitechapel Gallery.
